Macalester/Student Forum
from the Macalester Public Knowledge Base
The Student Forum existed in Fall 2005 through Spring 2006.
Created by Think Outside the Tank, the Student Forum was a means by which all students can collaborate with each other to form stronger ties of solidarity and to envision students' role at Macalester. While currently not active this idea is one that could be pursued again in the future to create broad-based student organizing is an essential step in moving the college in the right direction.

[edit] Purpose
Each generation of students tries to leave its mark on Macalester and make this college a better place. Unfortunately, the effectiveness of student initiatives is limited by our transience on campus and fragmentation of the student body. If we are to be effective in making Macalester a place we can all be proud of, we must develop a stronger voice and a clearer vision of what we want.
To this end we establish the Student Forum. The Forum is not a decision-making body. It is not a membership organization or a representative assembly. It is not a campaign. So what is it?
It is an open space for students to:
- Dialogue about the issues we face
- Develop relationships across difference
- Create new initiatives and networks of solidarity
- Find support for our concerns projects and plans
[edit] Organization
The Student Forum was created by Think Outside the Tank, but is owned by the entire student body.
