Rise Like Lions Community Housing is a collective project initiated by several students in Spring 2006. The initial goal of the collective is to set up a housing cooperative in the Twin Cities.

We are a collective of individuals committed to establishing cooperative, sustainable, and affordable community living options in the Twin Cities. We aim to create space in which new and hitherto marginalized social relationships can flourish.

Cooperation
- We will practice consensus decision-making, and direct democracy on an everyday basis
- We will support the cooperative movement through popular education and sponsorship of new cooperative initiatives
- We will support and abide by the Rochdale Cooperative Principles (1995 ICA version)
Sustainability
- Ecological- We will strive to create an environmentally sound human society that lives in harmony with the earth
- Social- We will foster healthy, lasting community based on mutual aid, caring and respect
- Financial- We will be good stewards of our community's future by managing our collective resources responsibly and intelligently
Community
- We will create an open and welcoming yet safe and respectful space
- We will actively struggle against all forms of oppression including, but not limited to racism, sexism, homophobia, ageism, ableism, and classism.
- We will be good neighbors, extending our cooperative and democratic values to the broader community
Experimentation
- We will create space for the free play of human creativity, encouraging the formation of new and alternative social relationships and critical engagement with the status quo
