Macalester College is a private undergraduate liberal-arts college founded in 1874 and located in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Of the 1,895 (Fall 06) students, 19% are students of color. About 16% are international students, and around 11% are from the Twin Cities.
There are over 80 official student organizations on campus, 251 professors, and 366 staff members. The current (and 16th) president is Brian C. Rosenberg. (More Facts)

In 2006, the college established a new administrative body, the Institute for Global Citizenship, representing a trend towards better incorporating civic engagement and internationalism into the scholarly activities of the college or, according to some, Macalester's increasing focus on prestige and ability to churn out an elite class of 'world leaders.'

[edit] Accreditation
Macalester College undergoes re-accreditation every 10 years by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), a body of the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, to which Macalester belongs. In late March of 2006, a team of evaluators from the HLC visited Macalester to determine its worthiness for re-accreditation. A Self-Study Committee was established to report on the progress Macalester demonstrated in the last 10 years. This report was presented to the Macalester Community during the Fall Semester, 2005.
