The Hegemon is a radical political zine published every two fridays at Macalester. Writers in the zine are mostly white students of a progressive, socialist, radical environmental, queer politics tilt and editing is done monday nights at 10pm in the Veggie Coop.

The Hegemon costs approximately $500 per semester in its 100 or so 10 double-sided letter page editions, photocopied at Macalester's document services, and has been included in Mac Greens and MPJC budget since its inception in March of 2004, sometimes facilitated by Brad Stiffler

we strive to oppose capitalism, imperialism, racism, heteronormativity, state violence and ableism, and to support ecology, feminism and equality. this is a zine for radical politics in support of all people in struggles for liberation. in this work, we oppose "professional" standards of journalism, including the belief in bias-free reporting. this zine is produced through a collective, non-hierarchical process.
