[edit] STUDENT PROGRAMS/TRAVEL FUND
MACALESTER COLLEGE
Purpose: The primary purpose of this fund is to support programs and activities sponsored by students and student organizations that are open to and have benefit for the Macalester community. The fund also supports travel for students to conferences and off-campus activities when attendance at these events will, in some way, benefit members of the broader community.

- Applications must be submitted at least three weeks prior to activity.
- As a general rule, organizations and individuals will be awarded only one grant per year.
- Monies may not be used for stipends/honoraria for members of the Macalester community.
- When applying for funds for conference attendance, a copy of registration materials must be submitted with request form, alone with a list of all participants.
- Publicity for activities receiving monies from this fund must include the following: "Support provided by Macalester College through the Programs/Travel Fund which is funded by administrative and service offices on campus."
- No funding will be provided for activities/travel that have occurred prior to request.
- E-mail Assistant Dean of Students (games (o'macalester.edu.) upon returning from event with a brief report.
[edit] Criteria for Granting Funds:
- Priority will be given to programs/activities that promote awareness of and/or learning opportunities related to diversity, community or current national and international issues.
- The perceived need for and benefit to campus community.
- Quality and timeliness of request (no later than three weeks before event).
- Successful collaboration with other organizations/departments in sponsoring activity.
- Evidence of creativity and initiative in planning.
- Additional efforts and success at soliciting financial support (fundraising, etc.) for the activity.
[edit] Procedure:
Request forms are available in Dean of Students office. Submit completed requests to the Dean of Students office as early as possible but no later than three weeks prior to event. A student/staff committee is responsible for dispensing this fund. Students must schedule a brief meeting with the committee after submitting application.
This fund is supported by monies from the offices of the President, Provost, Dean of Students, Campus Programs. Chaplain. Career Development Center. Health Services, Multicultural Life, Community Service and Residential Life. In most cases these offices will not accept requests for financial support but will refer requests to this funding source.
