[edit] Issues/Platforms
Multiculturalism was perhaps the most prominent issue discussed in the campaigning and debate leading up to the elections. The perceived alienation of multiculturalism by the administration has been a popular topic in recent weeks, following the resignation of Dean of Multicultural Life, Joi Lewis.
Residential Life policies have also been on the mind of students lately, specifically the alcohol policy and the role of R.A.'s in disciplining residents. Kyle Wortman especially (though most were in agreement) linked ResLife policies to the shortage of upperclassmen living on campus.
The issue of campus security was notably absent from much of the campaigning, though it was mentioned occasionally, especially by Jess Hasken advocating for a round-the-clock responder.
[edit] Results
692 students voted in the election. A referendum on the value of MPIRG and its default monetary support by MCSG passed with 81% of the vote.
