The Center for Multicultural & International Student Affairs (MISA) is dedicated to supporting, empowering and promoting the success of students of color and international students. MISA staff and initiatives help create a campus community where the needs of students of color and international students are addressed and where multiculturalism and diversity are appreciated, celebrated and advanced.

The mission of the Center for Multicultural & International Student Affairs (MISA) is to support, assist, empower and promote the success of students of color and international students at Hamline University. To better serve and retain students, MISA staff and initiatives help create a campus community where the needs of students of color and international students are addressed and where multiculturalism and diversity are appreciated, celebrated and advanced.
Towards this mission, our objectives are to:
- Provide services, resources and initiatives that assist students with a successful transition to, matriculation at and graduation from the University;
- Provide personal, social, and cultural support to students and encourage academic success;
- Provide opportunities for students to learn about, embrace and celebrate diverse ethnic, racial and cultural identities;
- Assist individual students and international and student-of-color organizations in leadership development and facilitate their active engagement and participation in the University community;
- Advocate for and assist other University constituencies in creating environments supportive of students of color and international students;
- Help educate the larger campus community about the unique histories, cultures, and experiences of students of color, international students and other diverse populations;
- Serve as a campus partner in providing on-going opportunities for members of the University community to engage in meaningful civil discourse about topics related to multiculturalism and diversity; and
- Help prepare all students to live, work, lead and succeed in a multicultural world.
Our services are inclusive, but specifically targeted toward multicultural and international students.
