Adelante/November 14 2004

Group discussed Yongho's comments on the Honduras trip (that it was a bunch of white christians who wanted to go "down" to Honduras), talked about opening up more slots in the trip for Adelante! members. Yongho explained the budgeting process, that it is not actually a burden for Adelante! to request 7,000 more dollars. (It doesn't make a difference if we request 1,000 or 10,000)
also discussed was the U.S. latino studies symposium (U.S. Latina/o Studies Symposium is scheduled for April 7-10 Thursday-Sunday) and Maria Elena had extended an invitation to adelante to work together on the saturday night (april 9th) event. She also said that ¡Adelante! could be listed as sponsors to the event, which Yongho was explaining was a bit pointless and that what mattered was actually helping out with planning. Alex said that it was actually nice to have ¡Adelante!'s name on things.
group did an evaluation of fall 2004 events and agreed that it was too many events, and that we had missed the initial goal of making it a comfortable space for ourselves. Also came up that the CSA dance had been planned out initially during the cultural org chairs retreat, and how DW had been a huge event for a lot of people involved in ¡Adelante!
