Adelante Meeting Minutes: Sunday, January 30, 2005 Lead by: Carmen Philips, Co-Chair

• Introductions
• Overview of semester
• Perry talked about the Chiapas Media Project. The Chiapas Media Project is an organization dedicated to helping the indigenous peoples of Chiapas, Mexico create their own documentaries about their ongoing struggle for autonomy. We would like to members of this organization to come here and show some of the completed videos duing their tour in March. The 3 documentaries we would like to show at Macalester are:
  • We Are Equal: Zapatista Women Speak (42 min)
  • Reclaiming Justice: Guerrero's Indigenous Community Police (25 min)
  • Water and Autonomy (14 min)
• Talk about direction we would like Adelante to go in this semester
• Announcements:
  • Student Labor Action Committee (SLAC) Meetting Tuesday, 10pm. Will discussion strategies and action plan for preventing Macalester from renewing contract with Coca Cola company.
  • Los Nativos, rap concert, songs about indigenous rights. Saturday, February 5 at 8pm. 7th St. entry at 1st Ave. $5.
